How does Huntsource, a cybersecurity staffing start-up, breakthrough the business community and get attention during Cybersecurity Awareness Month with little to no budget?
Creative Idea:
Since LinkedIn is the primary social platform for businesses, we wanted to leverage that arena for October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Businesses are attacked by hackers every 14 seconds. To bring that stat to life, we enlisted the business community to allow us to use their LinkedIn headshots as a metaphor by showing signs of a physical attack. We attacked headshots from all over the world that were submitted online. And we held free events in Charlotte to shoot headshots far anyone who wanted to participate in the fun. Then we armed them with infographics, copy posts and stats through a weekly newsletter.
Results:
The viral LinkedIn stunt was a huge success. We had CEOs, CISOs, CTOs and other top level executives from local to global companies take part in the effort to help raise awareness. HuntSource saw a 495% increase in site traffic, a 35% increase in tech talent applications and a 65% increase in followers to social channels.
